A 17-member Bangladesh squad has been named ahead of the Asia Cup 2022 starting later this month, while the nation has also named their captain for the tournament and the T20 World Cup later this year.
Bangladesh’s T20 skipper Shakib Al Hasan has been named the skipper of the Bangladesh team at least until the end of the year when the T20 World Cup is due to take place. During his new stint as captain, he will have his first assignment with the Asia Cup, which begins on the 27th of August.
As a result of Mahmud Ullah’s lack of results during the recent Zimbabwe tour, Nurul Hasan has been named the team’s captain for the forthcoming tour. However, Shakib Al Hasan, who had already been named the Test skipper after Mominul Haque stepped down, will soon take over the reins of the team as they prepare for the upcoming Asia Cup, the tri-series in New Zealand that will also involve Pakistan and the T20 World Cup to be held in the country in the near future.
There was also the announcement of Bangladesh’s squad for the T20 Asia Cup. Among the notable omissions was Litton Das, who was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. Despite this, there will be a boost to the squad with several key players returning, including Shakib, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Ebadat Hossain, and Mohammad Saifuddin, among others.
