There is no doubt that El Clasico is one of the most anticipated, and therefore most watched, club matches in the entire season.
There have been more than 280 meetings between Barcelona and Real Madrid in the history of both clubs, with fans watching with great anticipation each and every time the two giants meet.
It was a great season for Real Madrid in 2021/22, as they won both the Champions League and La Liga titles to clinch a historic double. In spite of this, Barcelona managed to earn a resounding 4-0 victory at the Bernabeu in March, which helped them become firmly established as a force to be reckoned with in the Liga.
Here is all you need to know about every El Clasico match that will take place in the upcoming La Liga season, now that most of the fixtures have been confirmed and more will be determined very soon.
When is Barcelona vs Real Madrid matches in 2022/23 season?
Every year, the highly anticipated matchups between Barcelona and Real Madrid are a big deal for the fans of the club, and the upcoming 2022/23 season is no different.
The two world-famous clubs are likely to face each other a number of times during the coming season, but we already have three confirmed dates for the games.
Firstly, there was the pre-season meeting that took place in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 24, 2022, that was held at the new Allegiant Stadium to get fans and players ready for the upcoming season, which saw the Catalan side edge out a 1-0 win courtesy of Raphina’s goal to seal the deal.
There is a match between Barcelona and Real Madrid in La Liga, which will be played at the Bernabeu on October 16, 2022. This match is scheduled for a month before the 2022 World Cup break. On March 19, 2023, Barcelona will play Real Madrid at their home fortress for the last time before they will shift temporarily to the Olympic Stadium for renovations to the Camp Nou the following year so that they can play their fixture at their home fortress for the last time.
As real Madrid and Barcelona are on opposite sides of the bracket for the Supercopa de Espana, there is a potential meeting between the two clubs in the competition as well. There is a requirement for Real Madrid to beat Valencia, and for Barcelona to beat Real Betis in order to meet in the final set on January 23, 2023, both teams have to win their respective matches.
Although there is a possibility that we could also see an El Clasico in either the Copa del Rey or the Champions League in the near future, we will not know for sure until much later. Due to the competition’s rules regarding matches between teams from the same country, neither team will be allowed to face the other up until the quarterfinals of the Champions League, since both teams will enter the Copa del Rey in the Round of 32.

There was no stopping the rivalry after Barcelona won that match by a score of 3-1.
In 1929, Real Madrid and Barcelona played their first league game in the Les Colts stadium in Barcelona, which ended in a 2-1 victory for Real Madrid.
Real Madrid has won 100 of the 248 competitive meetings between the two teams, while Barcelona has won 96 and drawn 52. Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos hold the record for the most appearances in El Clasico matches between the two teams, with both Messi and Ramos making 45 appearances in 45 matches between the two sides. Besides Messi being the top scorer in the El Clasico, he also has the most goals, with his 26 goals leading both Alfredo Di Stefano and Cristiano Ronaldo, who are tied with 18. There are 11 goals scored by Karim Benzema in El Clasico thus far, which makes him the active leader on either side.
