FIFA World Cup 2022 Netherland Players, Squad

This will be the eleventh time that the Netherlands will be participating in a FIFA World Cup 2022. The opening match of the tournament will be held at the Al Thumama Stadium in Doha on November 21, 2022, when the Netherlands will face Senegal. The Netherlands is grouped with the likes of Senegal, Ecuador, and the host nation Qatar in Group A of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Despite the fact that the Netherlands World Cup 2022 squad is just a few months away from being announced, Louis van Gaal has taken a step closer to that number 26 with his final selection for the June Nations League matches against Belgium, Wales (twice), and Poland.

The group included Virgil van Dijk, Matthijs de Ligt, and Memphis Depay, all of whom were expected to be included. While Georginio Wijnaldum was dropped from the squad following a disappointing first season with Paris Saint-Germain(opens in new tab), Ryan Gravenberch was unable to make the squad due to injury.

Vincent Janssen, a former Tottenham(opens in new tab) striker who has recently joined Belgian side Royal Antwerp following a spell with Monterrey in Mexico, made his first appearance for the Netherlands in October 2017, setting up a goal for the team as they beat Wales 3-2.

During the month of June, Van Gaal’s side impressively won three of their four matches, beating Wales twice, throttling Belgium 4-1, and drawing with Poland 2-2.

How many players are the Netherlands allowed to take to the Fifa World Cup 2022?

As a special measure brought into effect because of the COVID-19 pandemic, national managers were allowed to bring 26 players to last summer’s European Championship for the first time at a major tournament.

A 26-player squad has now been announced for the Qatar World Cup, which is an increase from the usual 23-man squads that have been used in the past.

When will the final Netherlands Fifa World Cup 2022 squad be announced?

In the year 2022, the World Cup will be held between the 21st of November and the 18th of December.

In spite of the fact that the next World Cup will not be staged according to the traditional football calendar, the World Cup squads are usually announced around six weeks before the tournament begins.

With club football being played closer to the start date of the tournament, this may change in the future.

Who will make the final Netherlands Fifa World Cup 2022 squad?

We expect a few players to be a dead cert for Louis van Gaal’s final Netherlands 2022 World Cup squad, barring injuries or bans.

Virgil van Dijk missed Euro 2020 due to an ACL injury and will be eager to make up for a lost time in Qatar. It is true that the Liverpool (opens in new tab) center-back might be considered one of the best players in the world in his position, but he has never played on an international stage.

If Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt, and Memphis Depay are fit, they will almost certainly represent the Dutch in 2022, and it would be very surprising if Ryan Gravenberch didn’t make the final squad.
