When Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar face off at WWE SummerSlam 2022, who does Goldberg predict will win?
The WWE Hall of Famer, Goldberg, has made a decision about who he thinks will win the highly anticipated match between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar that will take place at SummerSlam 2022.
The Undisputed WWE Universal Championship will be decided in nine days when Reigns and Lesnar will square off in a Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Championship. WWE is billing this as the final showdown between the two wrestling legends. Lesnar will compete in this match for the first time since losing to Reigns in the “Winner Takes All” title unification match at WrestleMania 38.
During an appearance on Good Morning Football, a show on the NFL Network (h/t to WrestlingInc.com), Goldberg revealed that he would back Lesnar to prevail against Reigns in the upcoming match.
“I’ve got to go, Brock,” Goldberg stated as he entered the arena. When Brock gets in the ring with anybody, let alone Roman Reigns, you never know what will happen. We have seen it happen a couple of times, but no matter how many times we see those two go at each other, nothing is ever going to be the same. There is always something going to be exciting when Brock gets into the ring with anyone.”
A one-on-one match between Goldberg and Lesnar has taken place three separate times in which Goldberg has won the first two encounters. At WrestleMania, Goldberg defeated Lesnar in the main event of the Survivor Series 2016, as well as at WrestleMania 35. At WrestleMania 33, the Beast Incarnate finally emerged victorious over the former pro football player, securing the title of Universal Champion for the very first time in history.
During the February Crown Jewel pay-per-view (a match for the Universal title) Reigns and Goldberg were introduced for the very first time. That much was won by the former via technical submission. Despite being the Hall of Famer’s latest WWE match to date, the Hall of Famer recently confirmed that he is still under contract with the company, even though this is his most recent match to date.
Against Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns holds a 3-2 record all-time against him
During WrestleMania 34 and The Greatest Royal Rumble, Lesnar defeated Reigns in the first two singles matches. But Reigns finally got past his archenemy at SummerSlam 2018 to become the new Universal Champion.
In Crown Jewel 2021, Reigns defeated Lesnar (largely due to some assistance from The Usos), thereby retaining his Universal title for the third time in his career. At WrestleMania 38, Reigns not only defeat his longtime rival, but he also defeated his longtime rival. Does The Tribal Chief have what it takes to beat Lesnar four times in a row? Will he be able to pull off such an impressive feat? The answer to this question will only be revealed with time. There is no doubt that Reigns is the underdog to win that contest but he is a massive -400 favorite.
