Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar’s rivalry ended not only with a bang but with a blaze of glory if this is truly the end of it.
There was no doubt that Reigns would retain the undisputed WWE Universal title following an epic Last Man Standing match on Saturday night against Lesnar. There is now no choice but for Lesnar and the WWE fans to “acknowledge” Reigns as the new champion.
The match, which took place at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, and featured a tractor breaking the ring during the match, was one of the most chaotic ones could possibly imagine. As a result, it was one of the better matches between Lesnar and Reigns; Reigns now leads the singles match series 4-2 in his favor.
“The Beast” was put down by Reigns with everything at his disposal, including tables, chairs, and even his championship belts. There was even help from The Usos, who took an F-5 through a table, and Paul Heyman, who took an F-5 through a desk. As a result of Lesnar breaking the ring with a tractor and using the lift, it has to push Reigns into the ring, which resulted in the match ending.
A briefcase named Money in the Bank was filled with Theory’s money, but he was unsuccessful in cashing it out. There is no word on when he will be able to cash in on the briefcase, but he still has it.
With Triple H now in charge of booking for WWE, this was the beginning of a new era for the company. In fact, this was evident with both Dakota Kai and Io Shirai making their appearances, as well as with the way the announcers sounded very different from one another. During the period of investigation into Vince McMahon’s alleged payments of millions of dollars in hush money over the years to hide his affairs, Triple H took over creative control of the company after McMahon retired.
Additionally, on the card, there was a match between Pat McAfee and his former football teammate Happy Corbin, as well as a match between Logan Paul and The Miz, which was one of the most impressive performances in recent memory. Paul’s takeover of WWE has officially begun after he signed an exclusive deal with the company last year.
Live results and highlights from WWE SummerSlam 2022
7:45 p.m. in the Eastern Time Zone: Titus O’Neil comes out and presents custom WWE titles to those who make a difference in the world around them. There are a number of causes that won gold this year, one of them being Musicians on Call.
8 p.m. Eastern Time: The main card of the event has begun. Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair was going to be the first match of the week, and it was announced during the preshow that it would be Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair.
There was a victory for Bianca Belair over Becky Lynch, retains ‘Raw’ women’s title
This year’s SummerSlam opens with a rematch of the SummerSlam from last year. After Sasha Banks failed to appear at the event last year, Lynch beat Belair in 27 seconds after she failed to show up for the match. A large crowd of fans is on their feet as the two have a long staredown in front of them. Symbolizing fire and ice respectively, Lynch is wearing red, while Belair is wearing blue.
The lockup is about to begin. As soon as Lynch targets Belair’s arm, he sets her up for a submission attempt as soon as he targets her arm. As a result of a lapse in judgment on Belair’s part, he gains momentum and lands numerous impressive acrobatic maneuvers. As Lynch is climbing the barricade on the outside, he lands a leg drop. A few rounds later, both fighters are back in the ring trading counterattacks. On the outside, Lynch tries to attack Belair again, but Belair counters everything he does and lands a suplex on Lynch on the outside.
Lynch is hurting her arm as she tries to do a crossbody maneuver. In spite of Belair’s attempts to catch her, Lynch counters into a powerful stunner. Lynch captures the champion in the Disarm-Her while the champion goes for her finisher. In the end, Belair is able to escape the ring and bring them both outside, where she hits Lynch with a knockout blow.
There was another KOD attempt on the inside, but Lynch was able to counter it. Upon landing, she immediately executes a standing spine buster on the opponent. Despite Lynch’s manhandle slam, he was only able to get two shots in. There was a rollup by Belair and one by Lynch. Lynch attempts to land the Manhandle Slam up top, but Belair counters with a Spanish Fly and then he scores a KOD to ensure the champion’s victory. The title of the champion remains in her hands.
As expected, Belair and Lynch put on a show for the ages, and they did not disappoint. Belair is in a much better place now than she was last year; she has had her redemption. There is no doubt that both women started a new era in the right way.
It’s Bayley’s turn to return! However, she is not the only one in this situation. There has been an arrival of Dakota Kai and Io Shirai. Lynch comes to Belair’s aid when they attempt to attack her, but they are stopped by Belair herself.
Logan Paul def. The Miz
A boxing match scheduled for Logan’s brother Jake to take place next week has been canceled.
Right away, Miz tries to one-up Paul and has him on the floor in no time. With the Fireman’s Carry, Paul is able to show off his wrestling skills a little bit. The Miz is then punched in the gut by Paul, the blows are in a different league from those delivered by Shane McMahon. During the match, he does the splits and counters a Miz kick for a rollup for a two-point win. Paul performs a moonsault to the outside of the box.
Once again, Paul lands hard chops inside the ring. As a result, Miz lands a Codebreaker on Paul’s face. During this time, Ciampa, who is in The Miz’s corner, lands a cheap shot on him. A “YES/IT Kick” is delivered by Miz in the corner. It was a throwback to the WrestleMania match when Paul and John teamed up for this blockbuster. As a result, Paul successfully lands his own kicks as well as a Figure-Four Leglock.
As soon as Miz escapes from the submission attempt, Paul lands a crossbody on him. Ciampa is thrown out of the ring as a result of his actions. As much as he doesn’t want to leave, AJ Styles attacks Ciampa from behind. Ciampa is thrown into the crowd by him. The Phenomenal Forearm that Paul lands actually lasts for only two seconds. After clearing the announce table, Paul places Miz on it, and he lands a frog splash to the outside onto Miz as he lands the frog splash. During the match, Maryse distracts the ref, Miz almost hits Paul and Maryse with a chain, and Paul ends up winning the match with the Skull Crushing Finale.
Taking a closer look at the match, it doesn’t seem like it could have been that good on paper. In preparation for his first WWE singles match, Paul showed his dedication to the preparation process. It was a very solid encounter between the two of them. The fact that Paul is just getting started makes it even more impressive, especially when you consider how young he is.
This is an advertisement from the Maximum Male Models for water. As a matter of fact, that was something that actually happened.
Lashley dominates Theory, and retains the United States title
Lashley then defends against Theory in the next round. The Money in the Bank briefcase is used by Theory as a weapon to attack Lashley once he gets inside the ring. After the bell has rung, Lashley tries to outstrike Theory by striking him. As Lashley gains momentum, however, he drops Theory to the ground, which provides Lashley with the victory. The theorem is trying to leave the ring, but Lashley prevents him from doing so. There is a roll-dropkick landed by Theory.
Lashley and Theory exchange punch in the middle of the ring as the fight progresses. As a result of Lashley’s running power slam. The spear is aimed at him, but Theory jumps out of the way before he can get it. Theoretically, Theory would like to go for the dropkick again but Lashley grabs him and puts him in a Hurt Lock. A tap is made by Theory.
The performance of Lashley was dominant as he mixed in some moves from Theory to complete the match. With a loss, MITB continues the tradition of MITB winners getting pinned after winning the tournament. As a result of this, Theory sets itself up for a potential cash-in in the future.
Edge returns, the Mysterios beat Finn Balor and Damian Priest
It’s Rey and Dominik Mysterio against Balor and Priest of The Judgement Day (with Rhea Ripley) in the first match of the night. It has been recently decided that the bout will be a no-disqualification one.
There is an immediate attack by both teams. The Hurricane by Rey and Judgement Day has already been pushed to the sidelines. Dominik was able to land a dive while Rey held the ropes for him. Rey honors Eddie Guerrero in the ring during the match. There is a Dominik in the match but he is overpowered by Balor during the match. There is now a priest in the match and he is dominating Dominik at the moment. Dominik does not have the chance to rest and Balor is mocking Eddie Guerrero while not allowing him to rest.
There is no doubt that Rey is now in the match and he is landing big moves including a seated senton against Priest. As a result of a bulldog by Rey, Priest is taken down. The chair is used by Balor as he tries to use it against Priest, but Rey grabs the chair and uses it against him instead. In the end, Rey slides his chair and him out of the ring onto Balor’s back. By Priest, he delivered a superkick. Thanks to a clothesline thrown by Balor, Rey is foiled in his attempt to complete the 619. Dominick stops Balor from going up top with a dropkick to Rey and Rey with a dropkick to Dominick. There are only two Hurricanranas performed by Rey on the top rope.
Rey and Dominik assisted Hurricanrana in executing the move. Double 619 is stopped by Ripley, who drops Dominik in the process. The Sound of Heaven is sung by Priest to Rey. There is a sudden blackout, and Edge is back in the picture. As you can see, he is dressed in his Brood outfit. Balor was hit by a boot and Priest was hit by a spear. A spear is thrown by him at Priest, which lands in his hands. Balor wins with a 619 and Rey pins him for the victory.
Even though it was not a No-DQ match, it was a solid bout all around. It was just in time that Edge came back. I think all of the four men (plus Edge and Ripley) did a good job of keeping the crowd interested during the match.
Pat McAfee impresses in win over Happy Corbin
The next matchup will be Pat McAfee vs. Happy Corbin in the main event. “Bum-a-— Corbin” has been chanted by the choir. There will be no entrance from McAfee tonight featuring the Seven Nation Army. Right away, McAfee delivers a superkick. Corbin lands a couple of punches of his own before McAfee goes on the attack.
McAfee’s Hurricane by McAfee. Corbin is put on the top rope by McAfee and he lands a flip over the top rope. In spite of this, Corbin manages to land a huge dropkick. After that, he proceeded to manhandle McAfee in the middle of the ring. The fight ends with Corbin pushing McAfee around outside the ring. When McAfee gets back in the ring, he puts Corbin down with a top rope dive and ends the match. The announcer’s table is slammed by Corbin after he slammed McAfee against it. McAfee’s family is mocked on commentary by Corbin, who gets on the stage. McAfee recovers in the ring and makes his way to the top of the ring. McAfee landed a superplex from the top rope to finish the match.
During the middle of the ring, Corbin and McAfee trade shots with each other. When McAfee lands a standing Swanton, he falls to the floor. An attempt by Corbin to end the world as we know it. There is, however, a hit on the referee. The referee is distracted when McAfee lands a low blow on him. For the win, McAfee comes out on top with Code Red.
I continue to be impressed with McAfee’s performance. There was no better dance partner for him than Corbin. Even though the ending may have been a bit sloppy, both movies made up for it. There is no doubt that the former football stars have put in a solid performance.
The winner of the undisputed WWE Universal championship at Clash at the Castle this weekend, Drew McIntyre, who beat Sheamus on Friday to earn a shot at the title, comes out, followed by a simple statement that he would win the title against whoever won the main event.
Usos retain tag titles against Street Profits
It is Jeff Jarrett who will be the guest referee for the WWE undisputed tag team title match that is going to take place shortly. They are accompanied by the cheerleaders of the Tennessee Titans as they perform on the street.
Jimmy Uso is attacked by Angelo Dawkins as soon as he enters the ring. The early portion of the bout is controlled by Jey Uso, who comes in and dominates the early portion of it. Dawkins is in trouble early as he is being isolated. Jarrett tries to lay down the law early. Jimmy tries two hip bumps in the corner but fails on the second attempt. Montez Ford is in the ring and picks up the pace. Jey lands a kick but Ford lands a blockbuster as a reversal. Neckbreaker to Ford but only for two.
Ford stops Jimmy and Jey from doing a double-team. On top of the rope, Dawkins lands a senton. Dawkins performed a spinning neck breaker on the opponent.
A kick from Jimmy that is all his own. The Street Profits double-team pounce into a suplex to win the match. During the blockbuster, they try to land a superkick, but Jey lands a superkick instead. After landing a double superkick, Jimmy lands a Uso Splash, but only for two seconds. Then uses the go for a double top-rope splash to land the trick. However, Ford was able to stop the pin attempt before it could be completed.
The referee throws Ford out of the ring. Jarrett almost gets super kicked by Jey. Ford with a top-rope splash and Dawkins with a spine buster to close the match. Jey kicks out of the game. Jarrett is yelled at by Ford. The Usos hit him with a superkick on the outside, and he is thrown out to the fans by the Usos. There is a superkick that Dawkins runs into. It’s another one of those. There is a 1-D by the Usos and they retain their titles.
There has never been a bad match between The Usos and The Street Profits. There was a continuation of that trend in this bout, despite its short duration. There was a little bit of a surprise that Jarrett did not have a bigger role in the match, but that is fine. The Bloodline has scored a big victory with this one.
Kid Rock is in the building.
Riddle is out now. He was forced to cancel his match against Seth “Freakin” Rollins a few days ago due to an injury that he sustained. The Stomp is landed by Rollins on Riddle when he comes out. Arrive, attack Riddle, and then leave.
Liv Morgan survives a dangerous Ronda Rousey, retains ‘SmackDown’ women’s title
Against Rousey, Morgan will defend the WWE “SmackDown” women’s title next week. Just a few weeks ago, Morgan cashed in the MITB briefcase she won against Rousey.
From the get-go, Rousey is hot and ready to go. While Morgan tries to fight back, Rousey lands a number of hard kicks on her. Morgan’s Codebreaker is one of his best works. It’s Rousey’s turn to go for the armbar. She then switches her attention to the other arm. Morgan starts with a rollup and then she turns it into a submission, which she then finishes with. Morgan’s Crucifix Driver can only be used by two people at a time.
Taking down Rousey with judo is a quick move. The armbar is landed by her, but Morgan manages to make it to the ropes before she is trapped. A second armbar is landed by Rousey, but Morgan evades the armbar by getting to the ropes once again. After a third armbar attempt, Morgan has now managed to stay in an armbar longer than any other Rousey opponent in the history of the UFC. Rousey is rolled up by Morgan and the referee counts three. Despite Morgan tapping in the middle of the pin, the referee did not see it because it was in the middle of the pin.
Rousey now attacks Morgan and lands a big armbar on him. A few seconds later, she lands an armbar on the referee.
The performance by Rousey was brief, but it was dominant in every aspect. It is fair to say that Morgan got lucky at certain points in the game. As a champion, Morgan is not the best choice when it comes to making a booking decision. Even so, it was a very creative finish. There is still a feud between the two sides.

Roman Reigns def. Brock Lesnar, retains undisputed WWE Universal championship in a classic
As the WWE Universal championship is at stake, Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar will face off for perhaps the last time (according to WWE). There will be a Last Man Standing match in this match. This could be a bad omen, since Reigns is the first to come out. Despite the fact that Lesnar is now wearing a flannel shirt, he drives a tractor to the ring.
A Lou Thesz Press was mounted on Lesnar’s tractor and he was using it to press his crops. There was a suplex by Lesnar on the floor. Here is another suplex, this time from the top of the steps. The suplex is done on top of the equipment. As a result of an F-5 attempt, Reigns pushes Lesnar out of the way. During the fight, Reigns was driven into the steel. The German Suplex by Lesnar was the highlight of the match. Reigns performed a Samoan Drop through the table after Lesnar was distracted by Paul Heyman during the match.
The steps are then used by Reigns to hit Lesnar. A Urinage is used to put Lesnar through the table. The Superman Punch hits Lesnar but he is only down to one knee at the time. The next time Lesnar tries to get up, he falls to the ground and gets back up again. Reigns threw a spear at the opponent. Lesnar is back in the ring. The spear attempt has been reversed to an F-5, but it has been reversed as well. Then, Lesnar takes Reigns outside the ring to another table outside the ring. When Reigns is pushed into the table, his arm is injured as he is pushed into the surface. It is Brock’s turn to go to the tractor. As Reigns and Lesnar were arguing, Lesnar threw a piece of the table at Reigns.
Afterward, he throws Reigns into the front loader of the tractor, lifts him up using the front loader, and dumps him into the ring. There was a suplex by Lesnar, and another, and another.
There is an F-5 by Lesnar, but Reigns beats the count by winning the match. Another F-5 attempt is made, but Reigns lands the guillotine on the opponent. As a result, Lesnar is able to land his own guillotine. It is just in time that Reigns is back up and running. When Lesnar moves the ring, he uses the tractor to do so. Afterward, Lesnar moves the tractor and takes Lesnar out of the ring with it. Despite the Usos’ attack on Lesnar, he fights back and defends himself. The F-5 that Lesnar lands through the table go through the table for a home run for Heyman. Then, Reigns speared Lesnar with a spear.
The MITB briefcase is brought out by Theory and he hits Reigns with it. However, he did not cash in on the opportunity. He is hit by Lesnar with an F-5, and then he is super kicked by the Usos. It was a spear by Reigns that led to the championship match. As of right now, Lesnar is back in action. When Lesnar, who is back up, is about to be defeated by Reigns, he uses the MITB briefcase to beat him up. As soon as Reigns hit Lesnar with the title, Lesnar once again got up in defense of his title. It’s another title shot from Reigns that he throws at Lesnar, then he throws ring materials at him as he throws the shot. In the end, Lesnar is unable to get up and Reigns retains his title.
The match between Lesnar and Reigns was one of the most chaotic matches between the two. There were a lot of things going on, but that made it extremely entertaining. There was no doubt in my mind that this was going to be the final fight between the two. As Theory did not cash out, he still has the briefcase in his possession. Can anyone dethrone Reigns from his throne?
