WWE SummerSlam 2022, 4 Reasons Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar shouldn’t happen

The Undisputed WWE Universal Championship was successfully defended by Roman Reigns against Riddle on this week’s SmackDown. However, The Tribal Chief’s celebrations were short-lived due to the interruption of Brock Lesnar, who crashed his party. As a result of the Beast’s return after a two-month hiatus, The Bloodline has been subjected to a brutal assault resulting in multiple F5s.

WWE announced shortly after Reigns’ shock comeback that a Last Man Standing match between Reigns and Lesnar would take place at SummerSlam for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam is not the best option, and this listicle examines four reasons why.

#1 It shows WWE’s over-reliance on part-timers

The WWE has repeatedly been lambasted by its fans for its tendency to place part-time superstars under the spotlight at the expense of full-time employees. Despite the fact that Reigns isn’t a part-timer in the strictest sense, his new contract allows him to make fewer appearances in the ring.

However, Lesnar is only a part-time wrestler, and WWE relies heavily on The Beast to catch the attention of casual fans when they are in need. There is a possibility that Full-Time Superstars might be demoted to the undercard at SummerSlam, as he will headline the show. In August of last year, John Cena filled the same role. As a result, it is not a new trend for mega-events to hire part-time talent, and this trend is expected to continue this year.

SummerSlam’s booking of Roman Reigns vs. Lesnar highlights the company’s reliance on part-timers and lack of faith in the younger generation.

#2 There are better options on the table for Roman Reigns

In light of the fact that The Head of the Table has run through much of the roster, it makes sense that WWE would regularly turn to Brock Lesnar as a potential opponent for Roman Reigns. The Bloodline leader, however, would be better compared with several stars who would be fresher and better opponents.

There has been a steady increase in the popularity of Bobby Lashley over the past few months. In a tweet, he teased that he would go after Reigns, but he later set his sights on Theory’s title. All Mighty never lost the WWE Championship, so he does have a logical claim to the World Championships as well.

In the meantime, Drew McIntyre has traded blows with the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship multiple times in the last twoompany saving Reigns vs. McIntyre for Clash at the Castle in September. SummerSlam was the perfect venue for the showdown and there was no reason for it not to take place. In the case of the premium live event in Wales, a rematch could have been scheduled.

#3 A loss would hurt either man severely

Last Man Standing’s loser has a lot to lose and a little to gain if he loses the match. Roman Reigns would immediately fall down the pecking order and break his record of dominance if he lost to The Beast, whom he has defeated five times in a row. The victory would not be highly beneficial either, since Reigns has already defeated Lesnar on more than one occasion.

It will be Brock Lesnar’s reputation that is on the line at SummerSlam. Defeating the Tribal Chief would not only be devastating but would severely damage his reputation as well.

The Conqueror has been defeated a few times by men that are as convincing as Reigns, and another such occasion would tarnish Lesnar’s on-screen persona. The Beast Incarnate, if he wins, will win two world championships, which he does not exactly need at this stage in his career.

#4 Roman Reigns’ storyline with Brock Lesnar has reached its expiration date

SummerSlam was the place where The Beast began his pursuit of the Tribal Chief’s Universal Championship. Since then, the two fierce rivals have been at each other’s throats, dominating much of WWE programming for over eight months.

Reigns unseated Brock Lesnar cleanly at WrestleMania 38 to unify the WWE and Universal Championships. It was evident by the roaring victory of the Tribal Chief at the Grandest Stage of Them All that their rivalry had come to an end.

It appears as though Reigns and Lesnar are being forced to continue the program against their will. The Creative Team has already added a plethora of twists and turns to the storyline, from Paul Heyman switching allegiances to The Beast getting suspended from fighting. In spite of that, there isn’t enough intrigue in the plot left due to The Head of the Table’s victory at WrestleMania, and so it lacks any apparent creative direction.
